I'm an engineering leader and developer. At Hewlett Packard Enterprise I lead a large, globally distributed team building the system-management software behind some of the world's largest supercomputers.
My work sits where product direction, architecture, and people meet: deciding what's feasible, prototyping the hard parts, and getting releases out at a quality bar we can stand behind. Before HPE I built Exosite's Customer Success organization through its move to SaaS, and earlier I wrote Python and Django at Safari Books Online and The Nerdery. For ten years I also designed and built custom titanium bicycles as SENEX Cycles.
Outside work I photograph night skies, bike races, and the people around me, and I build small, careful tools, most recently a macOS photo importer and a set of dependency-free options-analysis libraries.
Highlights
- Built a working prototype of a guided cluster-management experience that shaped a broader product rearchitecture at HPE.
- Led a nine-month effort to open source HPE's HPC system-management stack, supporting acceptance for two large contracts.
- Built local development environments that cut engineering feedback loops from days to minutes, without dedicated HPC hardware.
- Helped dozens of engineers adopt agentic development practices and the repository patterns that support them.
- Turned Exosite's support services from a cost center into a profitable operation.
