SUMMARY

Engineering leader and developer with experience spanning HPC/AI infrastructure, software architecture, and customer-facing platforms. At HPE, I lead a large globally distributed engineering team building system-management software for some of the world’s largest supercomputers, connecting product feasibility with architecture, people development, and quality-first delivery. Earlier, I built Exosite’s Customer Success organization and turned support into a profitable service while translating customer needs into reusable product capabilities.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Hewlett Packard Enterprise | May 2021 - Present
Cloud Developer and Engineering Manager, HPC/AI System Management

  • Lead a large globally distributed engineering team responsible for software across the HPC/AI cluster-management lifecycle, from bare-metal bring-up and networking through management services, cluster control, and image management.
  • Set work priorities, staffing assignments, and release-stability decisions. Partner with Product Management to assess proposals against technical feasibility and engineering capacity; guide cross-product architecture.
  • Defined operator journeys and built a working prototype for a guided cluster-management experience. The demonstration helped shape a broader product rearchitecture and reduce dependence on external software.
  • Built local development environments that removed the need for dedicated HPC hardware and shortened engineering feedback from days to minutes.
  • Led a nine-month effort to make the system-management stack open source, replacing internal-only builds with configurable customer-run workflows, documentation, and licensing review. The work supported acceptance criteria for two large contracts.
  • Improved image-build pipelines with automated security scanning and reduced build time from 90 to 45 minutes.
  • Helped dozens of engineers adopt agentic development through learning sessions on workflow tools and higher-level specification. Supported early use of GitHub’s agentic review and standards features, and established repository patterns for collaboration as code and documentation output grew.
  • Manage release risk with visible, release-critical Jira work, early scope decisions, and clear go/no-go points; use targeted prototypes, design reviews, and architecture decision records to align teams on complex work.

Exosite | August 2015 - May 2021
Director of Customer Success

  • Built and led Customer Success through the company’s SaaS transition, spanning application engineering, support, onboarding, professional services, and the customer lifecycle.
  • Created continuation services with monthly engineering assistance, service levels, operating measures, and contract terms. Expanded onboarding and the team, turning Support Services from a cost center into a profitable operation.
  • Joined Sales in customer discovery and product demonstrations, translated business goals into technical requirements, and worked with Product Management to turn recurring needs into reusable platform features.
  • Established tailored onboarding plans with assigned engineers, training, and milestones. Tracked usage and engagement, then directed outreach when customers needed help adopting the platform.
  • Led partner communication, customer-need validation, technical oversight, and release planning for a Moxa gateway offering that customers could claim securely and use with minimal configuration.
  • Reported group costs, revenue, and customer metrics, then prioritized team capacity by account growth and potential. Mentored a new hire through increasingly demanding work and into a Solutions Architect role.

i3logix | April 2015 - August 2015
DevOps Engineer

  • Automated VM builds and server provisioning from base operating systems through application deployment using Packer, Vagrant, Ansible, and AWS.

Safari Books Online (now O’Reilly Media) | January 2014 - March 2015
Software Engineer and Release Manager

  • Built Python/Django applications and OAuth2/SAML authentication for enterprise integrations. Established the release-management role, coordinating testing, approvals, database migrations, and production deployments.

The Nerdery | May 2012 - December 2013
Technical Lead

  • Led high-traffic Python/Django work, including the National Association of Realtors site; improved testing, monitoring, and infrastructure practices.

PERSONAL PROJECTS

Local LLM Manager | September 2026 - Present
Creator and sole developer; private, pre-release project

  • Building a control plane that makes self-hosted machine and model capacity available to agent clients, manages resource readiness and long-running work, and uses approval-gated escalation to cloud models when local paths cannot complete a task.

Senex Trader Independent developer; public repository: github.com/endthestart/SenexTrader

  • Built an options-trading platform with Django, real-time market-data streaming, Celery automation, broker API integration, and risk controls.
  • Implemented market-condition-based strategy selection, order workflows, and live position updates.
