Duluth and the Iron Range

An ore boat in the canal, Uncle Harvey's Mausoleum, and fall color over the old mine pits.

This was a family trip for the Minnesota school mountain bike state championship at Redhead Mountain Bike Park in Chisholm. We stopped in Duluth on the way up. An ore boat was coming in past the lighthouse when I got to the canal, so that’s where I started.

The wind had the lake up against the breakwater. The red rock looked great against the blue water and the hillside just starting to turn.

A little way up the Lakewalk is Uncle Harvey’s Mausoleum, a concrete box standing in the lake just off the shore. It was built in 1919 as a sand and gravel hopper and abandoned a few years later.

Later that afternoon we got to Chisholm. The old mine pits around town are lakes now, and the trees around them were at peak color.

This was the first trip I edited entirely in DxO PhotoLab.
