Milky Way over the Boundary Waters
Seventy-five minutes before dawn under a Boundary Waters sky, compressed into a few seconds of the Milky Way turning over the pines.

Shot between 3:33 and 4:47 in the morning on a May trip to the Boundary Waters. The camera pointed straight up through a gap in the pines and took a 20-second exposure every few seconds: Nikon Z 6II, NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S wide open, ISO 800.
Watch the edges of the frame for meteors: a few cross the Milky Way in the middle of the sequence. The sky starts to brighten in the last second as dawn comes up.
That night produced 196 frames, and three timelapse clips were rendered in camera. This is the longest of them.
